Why we exist
Understand the decision before you're asked to make it.
Homeownership creates a continuing stream of expensive decisions. What does this warning sign mean? Is this repair worth making? Is it time to replace something? What should an estimate include? What should you ask before you hire someone?
The hard part is often assessing whether proposed work is necessary, whether a recommendation makes sense for your home, and what questions to ask before spending. General guidance can help you prepare, but qualified on-site help is sometimes necessary to inspect conditions, diagnose a problem, or address safety concerns.
